Here at Sandbrock Ranch, we like to keep family fun and adventure in focus. Life here is about living every day to its fullest, exploring and experiencing new things, spending time with family, and being active and healthy.
That means there’s a pretty full schedule of events and activities available to our residents each month. And maintaining that schedule requires the unique talents of an on-site lifestyle director.
What’s that, you say? The lifestyle director oversees and implements all of the activities and programming in our community, from fitness classes to wine tastings and from family fun nights to Fishing Fridays. You could call her the “director of fun!”
Here at Sandbrock Ranch, our lifestyle director sends out a weekly email newsletter called the Ranch Roundup, but that’s not all she does! She also plans a variety of resident events for families, kids, and adults.
These events typically take place in the Carriage House or on the patio—or at the pool or on the event lawn when the weather is nice. But putting all these amazing events and awesome activities together takes time and commitment and a particular set of skills.
Enjoying the Live True lifestyle means spending time with family, exploring new experiences, connecting with nature, and finding fun wherever you can get it! And that’s exactly the kind of thing that a lifestyle director helps our residents do every day at Sandbrock Ranch!
Who oversees and implements all these great get-togethers and fun family events? Here at Sandbrock Ranch, our on-site lifestyle director is Gretchen Hayes. Let’s get to know her a little better.
Originally from Tacoma, WA, Gretchen got her Parks and Recreation degree from the University of Oregon before beginning a career in municipal parks and recreation departments. That means she worked with towns and communities planning recreation programs and special events and helping to make sure parks and greenspace were well-preserved and available for everyone’s use. These are all talents that make her a perfect fit as lifestyle director at Sandbrock Ranch!
As you might imagine, Gretchen loves the outdoors and staying active. Her hobbies range from cycling and hiking to kayaking and swimming. Since she’s a transplant to our community, she’s enjoying spending her free time discovering the beauty, history, and culture of Texas.
Gretchen’s commitment to staying active and healthy and exploring new activities that bring neighbors together and foster a sense of community are a perfect fit with our Live True lifestyle here at Sandbrock Ranch.

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves! We’re thrilled to have Gretchen around to help our residents Live True and create big memories through a variety of community events. And she’s looking forward to heading our lifestyle team as they bring together upcoming seasonal events such as the tree lighting celebration, an evening with Santa, and our upcoming food drive for the HOPE Food and Clothing Ministry in Aubrey!
What’s Gretchen working on these days? We have a lot of exciting events coming up for residents of all ages. For the grownups, there are cooking classes and wine and painting classes. Our children’s event series, Sandbrock Jr., happens the second Saturday of each month, and it always offers something fun and engaging for the kiddos. Here at Sandbrock Ranch, we always enjoy big celebrations for all the major holidays, so Gretchen definitely has plans for each in the works. Plus, 2020 is just around the corner, and you know we’ll be ringing in the New Year right.
